Men and Women in Philanthropy Oral History Project

The goal of this project is to record and transcribe the memories of men and women who have participated in philanthropy as donors, volunteers, and professionals. Data on giving and volunteering is largely collected at the household level, shedding little light on the philanthropic beliefs and habits of individual men and women. These oral histories will record the narrators’ understanding of their own accomplishments as donors, volunteers and professionals, revealing shared or common themes and, hopefully, generating a broader theoretical understanding of philanthropy.
