Abstract

On February 17, the IU Public Policy Institute released the results of Policy Choices for Indiana's Future at a meeting attended by over 100 Hoosier leaders. The project, an effort to identify critical issues facing Indiana in the long run, was the work of over 50 volunteer leaders and experts from throughout the state-including former statewide office holders, policy advisors, business and academic leaders, and private citizens. Policy Choices focused on key issues and challenges, identified opportunities, and offered options in three broad areas: education and workforce development, energy and the environment, and state and local tax policy. Chaired by Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Randall Shepard and co-chaired by Central Indiana Corporate Partnership CEO Mark Miles, Policy Choices aims to spark conversations among candidates for state office and other Indiana leaders about issues that will affect Indiana's economy over the long haul.
