Item Robert B. Jones Oral History Interview, April 22, 2008(2018-03-30) Grau, KevinRobert B. Jones specializes in treating and researching infectious diseases in Indianapolis, Indiana. He received his medical education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine and did both his residency and internship at the University of Washington. He is currently associated with the Richard L. Roudebush Veterans Affairs Medical Center Eskenazi Health in Indianapolis. He is currently certified to practice medicine in the states of Utah, Missouri, Pennsylvania, and Minnesota. He is a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine in the fields of Internal Medicine.Item Augustus Watanabe Oral History Interview Part 1 and Part 2, April 15, 2008(2018-03-24) Grau, KevinDr. Augustus Watanabe received a Bachelor of Science degree in zoology from Wheaton College in 1963 and a medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1967. He did additional postgraduate work in clinical pharmacology at the Laboratory of Clinical Science of the National Institute of Mental Health and in cardiology at the Indiana University Medical Center. Dr. Watanabe was a full-time faculty member at Indiana University School of Medicine from 1971 to 1990, and, in 1978, he became the youngest Professor of Medicine at the University. From 1983 to 1990, he served as Chairman of the Department of Medicine.Item Walter Tinsley Oral History Interview, June 19, 2015(2018-03-24) Potter, AngelaIn 1994 Mitch Roob was appointed President of Marion County Health and Hospital Corporation in the administration of Mayor Stephen Goldsmith. HHC operates, through its two divisions, the Marion County Health Department and the health care system built around Wishard (formerly City) Hospital: Wishard Health Services. City Hospital and its successors are important sites for physician training and community service for the IU School of Medicine. Richey Oral History Interview, March 31, 1976(2018-03-24) Bonsett, Charles A.James Oscar Ritchey was born in Carroll County in Indiana in 1891. He graduated from the top of his class at the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1918 and became the first to receive the Marcus Ravdin Medal, what was to be known as the school’s highest award for scholarly achievements. The following year, he became a Professor, and later became the chairman of the Department, at the School of Medicine. Two years after his passing in 1981, the J. O. Ritchey Society was established as a way to recognize those who help the School of Medicine through their monetary gifts their time committed to the Department.Item Ora H. Pescovitz Oral History Interview, April 17, 2008(2018-03-24) Grau, KevinOra H. Pescovitz was born in 1957 and received her Doctorate in Medicine at Northwestern University in Illinois in 1979. After her graduation, she had served two different Pediatric Residencies at the University of Minnesota for two years and at Children’s Hospital National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. for one year. From 1988 to 2009, Pescovitz had worked at Indiana University and with the IU School of Medicine as a Professor of Pediatrics and of Physiology, Executive Associate Dean of Research Affairs, Interim Vice President of Research Administration, and was the President and CEO of Riley’s Hospital for Children. She currently serving as the seventh President of Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.Item Ward "Bill" Moore Oral History Interview Part 1 and Part 2, November 8, 2000(2018-03-24) Van Allen, ElizabethWard Moore was born in 1924 in Cowden, Illinois. He attended the University of Illinois, where he got both his AB in Zoology (1948) and his PhD in Physiology (1952). After working at A&M College in Oklahoma for several years, he and his family moved to Bloomington, Indiana and got a job at Indiana University as both the Associate Dean of the School of Medicine and later as the Director of the Medical Science Program in the city of Bloomington. After he retired in 1989, he traveled the world with his wife, he helped publish the book “Varsity Sports of Indiana University,” and help co-author “Lincoln in Print and Photograph” with his friend Cecil Byrd. He passed away at the age of 90 in 2014.Item George Lukemeyer Oral History Interview Part 1 and Part 2, December 8, 2000(2018-03-24) Van Allen, ElizabethGeorge Lukemeyer practiced medicine for over 60 years and specialized in internal medicine. He graduated from his medical school at the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1947, did his internship through IU School of Medicine in 1948, and did his residency through both the IU School of Medicine and Emory University Hospital in 1949.Item Robert Holden Oral History Interview, November 28, 2000(2018-03-24) Van Allen, ElizabethRobert W. Holden was born in Brazil, Indiana and worked to earn his undergraduate pharmaceutical degree from Purdue University in 1958 and his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine five years later. Some time after serving as a medical officer in the United States Army, he joined the IU Faculty in 1973 and later became a professor with full benefits in 1982, and he later became the chairman of the board to the IU School of Medicine’s Department of Radiology. He had received several awards during his career: the Distinguished Alumni Award from Purdue University, the Bowen Distinguished Leadership Award from the IU School of Medicine, and the Gold Medal Award from the Indiana Roentgen Society.Item James Hedges Oral History Interview, May 26, 2015(2018-03-24) Potter, AngelaJames Kenneth Hedges went to the Indiana University School of Medicine for his formal education and specialized in the field of Obstetrics & Gynecology. He is a professional member of the American College of Surgeons and, during his time with them, received his FACS certification for his professional competence and ethical fitness. He is currently licensed to practice medicine in the state of Indiana and California.
